The retreats at Maranatha are based on the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius, written by the Saint more than 450 years ago. The Exercises is a practical instrument and effective guide that disposes persons of faith to be open, willing, and accepting of the friendship and love that is being offered by the Divine Majesty. It is a means whereby the one making the retreat can journey to deeper inner freedom in response to the invitation for the greater praise and glory of God.
Maranatha offers several kinds of retreat experiences
Thematic weekend live-in retreats. These retreats serve as an introduction to the silence and solitude of “Be still and know that I am God”.
Live-in Three or more days and 8 day retreats. These retreats give the one making the retreat the opportunity to be guided by a spiritual companion to a deeper communion with God. The spiritual companion may be lay, religious or priest, who has had formation in the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius
A retreat in daily life. It is a retreat that can be made in the environment of home, social and work situations. This retreat can be over a period of 5-6 days. It is a way to give space in one’s busy life to experience a deeper relationship with God, with the guidance of a spiritual companion. It is a time where one can pause, focus and be consciously aware of where God is in the relationships and events of one’s life.
